Celebrating International Women’s Day: An Inclusive Future at Heron IT

We know that diversity in thought and experience drives innovation, so on International Women’s Day we’d like to share a personal view from Colin, our founder and MD.

“At Heron IT we are pleased to say that we have a good balance of male and female staff, which is often unusual in a male-dominated industry. We believe that talent, dedication, and values should be the only measures of success.

It’s good to have a mix as it helps with the demeanour and behaviour in the office, and also gives me, as the owner of Heron IT, professional perspectives that I may not receive from our male employees.

We always try to put ourselves in the minds of our clients, but it can sometimes be difficult to see things through a female’s point-of-view when you are a male.

I think it would be good if there were more women as technicians, and wish that young women were encouraged by the government, and society in general, to take more of an interest in computers as eventually this would filter through to a better ratio of technicians.”
